Understanding the RIM Process – Premold

Posted by on August 12, 2011 | 0 comments

RIM components are made up of  two liquids that chemically react to form a plastic part.  Venting is incorporated into the mold to allow any air bubbles to be vented out of the mold. Because the liquids are like the viscosity of skim milk  the molds are able to fill completely.

The mix head contains nozzles that impinge isocyanate and polyol  into the mold.  Because the  RIM process uses low pressure and low temperature; metallic and other materials can be molded into the mold.
